SIDE DISHES FOR BBQ

Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • - 4 cups green cabbage shredded
  • - 1 cup carrots grated
  • - 1 apple cored and diced
  • - 1 cup mayonnaise
  • - 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • - 1 tablespoon sugar
  • - Salt and pepper to taste
  • - Optional: chopped nuts or raisins for garnish

Instructions

  • Cooking Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrots, and diced apple. Toss them together gently until well mixed.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
  • Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture, and use a spatula to fold the dressing in gently, ensuring all the vegetables are coated evenly.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the coleslaw to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the coleslaw to chill.
  • Before serving, give the coleslaw a quick stir and taste for seasoning, adjusting salt and pepper as needed. If desired, sprinkle with chopped nuts or raisins for added texture and flavor.
  • For best results, prepare the coleslaw a few hours—or even a day—before your BBQ. This allows the flavors to deepen, and the vegetables to soften slightly while still retaining their crunch.
  • Additionally, feel free to customize the slaw with your favorite ingredients, such as diced bell peppers, red cabbage for a pop of color, or a dash of hot sauce for a spicy twist. Enjoy your BBQ!
